Take back the beach

Image
When you live in a resort community the days and weeks between Memorial Day and Labor Day mean staying as far away from the beaches and outlet malls we love. There are super secret beaches where locals go to enjoy the Summer months but unless you're prepared to battle crowds and parking? We just stay away (Don't feel too sorry. We do brave the crowds. It is the beach after all.)  On the Tuesday after Labor Day the locals come crawling out of wherever they've been taking cover and take back the town. We picked up MomMom and PopPop and headed straight to our favorite pizza place followed by a stroll down the boardwalk.  We stopped to take a silly picture in front of a beachfront hotel which holds a bit of personal nostalgia. (Stephen had arranged a surprise engagement party for us after he proposed on the beach. With my parents as surprise guests.  I had left them in Indiana just the day before!)  We had a lovely afternoon and have already made a few more visits to wa...

We were shopping for the kids today. I promise. I just couldn't leave this little thing behind.

I almost forgot

Oh yeah! I got my hair cut a few weeks ago. I'm growing it out but I needed it to do something other than just hang there. Please ignore the fact that I'm having some teenage skin issues and I would shrink my big honking nose if I could.

Horseshoe Crab and Shorebird Festival

Image
Today we made a short trip North to a little town called Milton for the 9th Annual Horseshoe Crab and Shorebird Festival. The festival corresponds with the time each year the crabs make there way to our shores to spawn. They lay there eggs and then, (as with most food chains) shorebirds of various species eat the freshly laid eggs which are very high in protein and a favorite food among the birds. It's all very fascinating but mostly the festival is about fun with a heap of education on the side. Also, Bella was with us but didn't manage to make it in any pictures. She pretty much slept through the whole thing. Touch Tank William's turn The business end of a Horseshoe Crab. The local Lions Club operates this little choo choo for special events. Beginning to feel like myself

Image
Our scale is broken. That's okay because I don't need it to know my exact weight because some of my pants are falling off. I have another appointment with my OB/GYN in June where no doubt I will be weighed. Since that is the scale that has been keeping track of me for the last year I'm going to hold off on announcing any post baby weight loss numbers. I will post this picture I took of myself because I am starting to see a glimmer of my former self. No doubt the full nights sleep I have been getting (Go Bella) and the beautiful weather (save this week) which has allowed us to get outside more is helping for sure. Signing off for the weekend a little early. My parents are expected tomorrow afternoon. My Mom was here for Bella's baptism but my Dad hasn't been for a visit in three years. I've only seen him twice since then but that's another story. I am saying many prayers that we have a pleasant weekend and I am very excited for my Dad to meet our daughter.

Signs of Spring

The weather has turned cold again. Is it really almost May? I decided the kitchen needed a bit if cheering up so for $4.99 a new table cloth and some pretty yellow placemats are doing the trick.
