Hoshi Whaaaaat?

Hashimoto's Thyroditis 

What? Yeah, me either. 

At least not before two weeks ago when my new endocrinologist diagnosed me. 

It's a big scary word that means my body is attacking itself. As a result my thyroid doesn't work properly. Then, for no reason whatsoever it will. With regular blood tests to regulate hormone levels I have the potential for a very good prognosis. Unfortunately, it can take the better part of a year to get all the levels where they need to be. There is no cure for Hashi's but with some diligence it's definitely manageable. 

Please keep me in your prayers while we figure this all out.

new year, new...

This post is not going to be full of ridiculous resolutions but rather a short and sweet kick off to 2016. Oh, don't get me wrong. I have a personal laundry list of accomplishments I hope to check off my list this year but they're mostly boring. I will say that I will be here more often and hope to connect with you in a variety of ways. We're not reinventing the wheel here

It's that time of year again. The time when many mugs of tea and coffee are consumed whilst pouring over trusty cookbooks. For some of you, Thanksgiving menus are set in stone. There are certain dishes that are expected to be on the table. That's another post entirely. Today is all about finding ways to incorporate new dishes into your menu and feeling good about it. In my early teens, our family traditions became more fluid. That is, it became our tradition to be untraditional. This wasn't intentional, it was life.
